Since the PTD Alumni was formed in 1989, our means of communicating with our members had been through letters, faxes, phone calls, meetings (both formal and informal), forums, as well as the many social gatherings we had organised over the years. With the launch of our own website www.ptdalumni.org, we will now have another means of communication, one that should be more technologically competent and efficient. Our website is still new and simple but it can develop to become a powerful platform for all our members to take advantage of. Towards this end, we need your ideas, comments and suggestions.

We also welcome your input towards planning future programmes and activities for the PTD Alumni. We would like the PTD Alumni to play a more significant role in contributing to the government’s efforts in improving the public service delivery system. Our members have, collectively, vast knowledge, invaluable experience, extensive exposure and skills that have been developed and tested over the many years of serving in the public service, many reaching the highest levels in the Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government that they had served. There is much that we can share and contribute.

You will notice that we use mainly English for the contents on our website since it is a common language used in Internet communication. However, we welcome communications to us in Bahasa Malaysia and we look forward to getting your emails.

The 19th AGM of the PTD Alumni took place on Friday, 15 May 2009. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members who attended and took part in the election for the new Executive Committee for 2009/10. I wish to also express my sincere thanks and appreciation to the members of the Executive Committee for 2007/08 and to congratulate those who were elected into the Executive Committee 2009/10.

Tan Sri Datuk Paduka (Dr.) Sallehuddin Mohamed.
President

BACKGROUND

The Alumni Association of the Administrative and Diplomatic Officers (PTD Alumni) was registered on 19 April 1989 (892/89 Wilayah Persekutuan) as an association for retired Administrative and Diplomatic Service officers. Its first Annual General Meeting was held on 5 March 1991 when the late Tan Sri (now Tun) Abdullah bin Mohd. Salleh was elected as its President. In 1997, Tan Sri Sallehuddin bin Mohamed was elected as the second President of the PTD Alumni. He remains the current President of the Association.

OBJECTIVES OF PTD ALUMNI

The objectives of the PTD Alumni, as specified in its Constitution, are as follows:

  1. to assist efforts of the government to strengthen the relationship between the Public and the Private Sectors;
  2. to assist in the implementation and achievement of government policies through holding of active forums for that purpose;
  3. to contribute views and opinions as well as other skills considered necessary to the government and other parties;
  4. to assist members to become active in the economic and social spheres of the nation;
  5. to strengthen networking among members for mutual benefits particularly in economic matters and social welfare.

OUR CREST

The emblem of the Association consists of two tigers rampant holding a shield on which the words PTD ALUMNI are inscribed, in the like form of the emblem of the Government of Malaysia, to denote the past association of members with the Government as members of its civil service. The two tigers stand on a red ribbon inscribed with the name of the Association in Malay, i.e. Persatuan Alumni Pengawai Tadbir dan Diplomatic (Administrative and Diplomatic Officers Alumni Association). All these are enclosed in a shield which depicts unity and single-minded purpose.

MOTTO OF THE PTD ALUMNI

The motto of the PTD Alumni is:

“SERVICE TO MEMBERS, DEFENDER OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE IN PUBLIC AND ADVISER OF THE GOVERNMENT IN PRIVATE.”
